Nearly twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, bringing wind gusts hitting over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Destruction
Homeowners reported giant hailstones as large as 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across the state had been affected by significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair power throughout the impacted areas, with dozens of response units deployed to handle the widespread outages.
Victorian Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 households in the southern state also experienced power outages after Melbourne saw its wettest day in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled 598 emergency reports across the state, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.
