Vinted Members Express Anger About Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Changes
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
